Facebook has announced the launch of a third-party fact-checking program to prevent the spread of fake information. The International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN), a non-partisan body of the Pointer Institute, This information was given in a statement on Facebook.

According to the Facebook authorities, from today, Boom will review the accuracy of the Facebook stories, including the existing pictures and videos in the Facebook community of Bangladesh, and give its rating whether it is correct or not.

When third-party fact-checkers rate a post as untrue or false, it will appear lower or lower on the news feed. This will significantly reduce the spread of the post.

Facebook is also working with Boom in other countries like India and Myanmar.




"Facebook users want to get the right information," said Anjali Kapoor, News Partnership Director for Asia-Pacific, Facebook. That's why we are launching our third-party fact-checking program in Bangladesh in partnership with Boom. With this, we will be able to create a more aware population and expand further locally. '

This program is in line with Facebook's three-part framework to enhance the standard and authenticity of stories within the news feed. When third-party fact-checkers write articles a few pieces of content, Facebook will show these in Related Articles immediately below the story in the news feed. Page admins and other people on Facebook also will receive notifications if they struggle to share a post or have shared one that's been determined to be false, empowering people to make a decision for themselves what to read, trust, and share.

Facebook's fact-checking program began in December 2016. Fact checks are currently being conducted in more than 50 languages.
